Clinical Analytics & Health Systems Scientist

Digital Health Transformation

I build data systems that clinicians and leaders rely on, taking them from user requirements through to everyday use.

Clinical data systems

Primary care reporting pipeline

I designed and built a clinical automation pipeline at bringing EMR data from clinics into operational and performance reporting. I defined the reporting requirements, developed the data transformation, and validated the output before it went into production. This pipeline now supports a provincial dashboard and informs clinical impact evaluation.

Traumatic Brain Injury and Stroke Databases

I built clinical databases used to monitor and manage patient care, from gathering requirements with clinical teams through design, testing, and ongoing support. Both have supported multiple clinical studies.

Concussion Navigation system

As Co-Principal Investigator of the provincial Concussion Navigation Program, I built the intake, assessment, and evaluation system in REDCap, with every field drawn from expert vetted clinical practice guidelines. It is now rolling out in Central Zone.

Nova Scotia Injury Dashboard

I developed the first prototype of a provincial injury surveillance dashboard with the Department of Health and Wellness and Injury Free Nova Scotia.

Interoperability and standards

I lead the collaborative projects with government partners that map clinical data elements to FHIR resources for health system planning and resource allocation.

I also contribute to standards work as a member of the Standards Council of Canada Health Informatics Committee and the IEEE AI & Healthcare Roadmap. I work with ICD-10, FHIR, and CIHI standards, and am trained in SNOMED CT and HL7 through my Master of Health Informatics.

Performance Measurement & Decision Support

I build performance reporting for provincial health care services and have helped define KPIs by developing their data definitions. My workforce and service delivery projections have informed leadership decisions on workforce planning and resource allocation.

Consulting

Nova Scotia Health

As a Clinical Performance Consultant embedded within Nova Scotia Health, I work across the provincial health system on a range of analytics and improvement initiatives. The work varies by organizational need and has included performance measurement, program evaluation, outcome, monitoring, data visualization, and data strategy. This role sits at the intersection of health data science and health system operations, where I actively translate evidence and analysis into something the system can actually act on.

 Selected Consulting

I have consulted on improving the interpretability and clinical utility of repeated cognitive and symptom assessments, such as those used in concussion management, neuropsychological monitoring, and performance tracking. This work included:

Normative modeling and reliable change:  developing statistically grounded baselines and methods for determining whether a change in an individual's scores reflects true change or measurement noise.

Composite score development:  building summary measures from multi-domain assessment batteries that are both psychometrically sound and clinically meaningful.

Clinically interpretable reporting: translating raw assessment outputs into thresholds, decision frameworks, and reports that clinicians can use directly with patients.

Outputs

Most recently, I designed normative curves and Reliable Change Index bands for an international concussion clinic network, working with its developers and clinical director to integrate them into an EMR used by more than 7,000 clinicians in over 40 countries.
